If you have a New Year’s resolution to learn a new skill, pursue more creative fun, or help our planet by recycling, this class is for you! In this three-week series presented by the ever talented Cathy Cartwright, you will learn how to build an art doll from start to finish. Beginning with wire armature, students will be guided through the doll making process, including sweater selection, clothing construction, and use of decorative stitching. This class does not use patterns, but instead calls upon your inspiration and creativity to make (with superb guidance) a truly unique work of art.
Have any old sweaters of your own that you would like to use? Bring them along! This class is an excellent way to make a keepsake out of a treasured old sweater of perhaps a family member or close friend. Just think, you will also help our planet by doing so. The average American throws out 81 pounds of clothing per year, which amounts to 26 billion pounds of textiles ending up in landfills. Whether you bring your own sweater or use one of Cathy’s, your doll will tell a one-of-a-kind story with its own personality and charm.
Saturday, January 12th, 19th & 26th; 10am-1pm
This three-week series is $75 per student and includes all instruction, tools and materials.
