Come out of the cold and be warmed by the incredible use of abstract color from local artist Melissa Flattery! Art Box is delighted to present Melissa’s inspiring work for the first Stroll of 2019. Melissa began pursuing her passion for creating art on a full-time basis after retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel of the US Air Force after 20 years of service.
Melissa’s artistic appetite is diverse and wide ranging. She enjoys watercolor, pen & ink, acrylic and resin fluid art, calligraphy, abstract photography, and creating glass mosaic vessels through her own unique process. Melissa intricately carves goose, emu, rhea, and ostrich eggs with beautiful displays. She also embellishes treasure boxes with glass, gem stones and other artifacts, and transforms antique time pieces into art and exquisite jewelry.
Melissa’s current focus is on contemporary abstract pieces, with vibrant colors and an organic flow. Each piece of her work is unique, reflecting her pure joy and intense passion for now having the time, resources and freedom to create.
Make sure to pop into Art Box (215 25th Street) on Friday, January 4th beginning at 6:00pm for some light refreshments, and to meet Melissa and see her extraordinary work in person!
